Soul Silence

Soul Silence

I dare not challenge him though I wish to
The golden ring hugs my finger tight
It’s to that piece of yellow glittering gold
That I have surrendered my mind, though myself.

He who bought me with his manhood
Whose desires I am destined to quench
The world calls it divine bondage

They call me lucky woman, indeed!
A testament of unwritten norms
Of many ‘don’ts’ and much more ‘do’s’
All set according to his pleasure

What am I to do with them?
Is it what you call commitment?
A thing to last for a lifetime?
I believe that this virtue of yours
Will make my grave, a slave’s adobe!
